What is "Codice Fiscale"?
The “Codice Fiscale” is a document necessary for both temporary and long term stays in Italy. The codice fiscale is assigned by birth to Italians and upon request to non-Italians. It can be requested and obtained for children as well as adults. The only difference with an application for a child is additional documentation in the form of a parent’s passport and birth certificates.
The “Codice Fiscale” enables the citizens in Italy:

In general, the “Codice Fiscale” is necessary for the immigration process and to obtain the documentation for a successful relocation in Italy.
The Fiscal code in Italy made up of 16 alphanumeric characters on the basis of your first name, family name, date and place of birth and it is used by the Public Administration to identify the citizens living in Italy.
Having an Italian tax code does not imply any tax duty. You are subject to Italian tax duties if you own certain qualifying assets in Italy or if you are an Italian resident or if you earn an Italian taxable income.
